Hello all.

Recently me and others have thought about the idea of Pompton Lakes FAS(only them, not PD/FD) possibly being something other than DMR(as it’s listed in the DB).

I was able to catch the tail end of a tone-out on Analog. There was a tone-out and the PLakes dispatcher(I know the voice, so it was them).

It was the same frequency, and unsure of PL/DPL, didn’t have a chance to see.

I am monitoring on my BCD-396xt. The frequency is the same as the DB lists. Is anyone sure if they use mixed mode? Or is it incorrectly stated in the DB?

I can confirm it was analog(as my 396xt heard it, and it was intelligible, non-garbled audio).

I will continue to monitor it. Next time I’ll look for tone. I am monitoring that frequency in CSQ.

Nick

Their license indicates the can use either NFM analog and or DMR as emissions. Just because they are licensed for both it does not mean they are using one or the other or both. The DMR may be a future option for them. If you heard them analog NFM andI doubt its CSQ since its a UHF repeater system. The option now is get their PL/DPL and submit it.

Hey guys an update. Heard them today at 10:30 with multiple tone outs for a call.

Interestingly so, the dispatcher called out KNDK505 the EMS low band license over the air for this job.

Also, apparently Riverdale has these frequencies as well...dispatcher made an all call to Pompton and Riverdale.

Tones and audio came in loud and clear, analog.

Also, interestingly so, was no tone. I was directly monitoring this time. Usually Pompton is DPL of some sort. But, I guess not with this frequency.

Will keep monitoring and report further.

The actual name of the Squad, is Pompton Lakes-Riverdale First Aid Squad. That's why you hear either Borough tone out calls

Only Pompton Lakes has the capability to tone out the first aid squad. I dispatch for Wanaque PD, 26 years and counting, and am very familiar with the procedures here. Riverdale dispatch dispatches their own PD and FD. The first aid squad is located in Pompton Lakes and is dispatched by Pompton Lakes PD regardless of where the call is.

Now....to make it interesting every weekend the Pompton Lakes/Riverdale FAS and the Wanaque FAS alternate duty. Starting at 5am Saturday through 5am Monday whichever squad has the duty covers Pompton Lakes, Riverdale, and Wanaque.

I can't speak for the Pompton FAS but here in Wanaque you'll hear 3 sets of tones during the plectron test. They are for the FD, the FAS duty crew tone, and FAS all-call tone.

Hope this sheds a little light on things!

I’ve certainly heard this before as well!

Interestingly so, is the radio procedures. Again, this is from listening.

At least on Wanaque, the tones go out on the Fire/EMS channel, but then the Rig 68 response is on the police channel. Any reason for that?

Why not like Ringwood, and just keep the comms separate?

Years ago,60's and 70's, the EMS was allowed on the PD Frequencies to call in service, and remain on there

till the call was over.

Even though I’ve been there 26 years I’ve never been able to find out the real reason(s). I like having them on the PD band though, it’s not a problem.

I agree.

Makes sense. Great interops. Especially when ALS is involved.

Oh? I haven’t heard them in awhile. Thanks for this. I’ll monitor with tone and see if it comes up as well. I’ll be in the area tonight
