I have recently installed a external antenna for my Scanner, after reading on the forums that many people use a Ham Co-linear for general receive I thought I would give it a try so I got a Watson V-2000 6/2/70cm base antenna, Its mounted on a pole at about 30ft hight.

The coax I used is the 75ohm WF100 as I had a roll going unused, the spec seems quite good
TV & Satellite Digital Cables - Webro from what I have read for receive only the difference to 50ohm should be minimal, the run is quite short at approx 10 meters.

The problem I have is it seems quite poor in the UHF 430-460 range with results about the same as I can get with a telescope antenna directly attached to the Uniden Base scanner, but at VHF LO-HI the V-2000 is vastly better I can pick up a Airport tower with good clarity that the Telescope can not even hear so the antenna does at least seem to be working to some degree, I have checked all connections and tested with a multimeter to ensure there is no shorts.

I wondered if some of you knowledgeable guys could give me your input on what I am doing wrong, Am I maybe expecting too much at UHF and the ultimate limit is the height of my location, could it be the Antenna although it is brandnew, or do I really need 50ohm cable like Westflex 103.
