I was going through some things stored in the basement and I found my Great Uncle's old Pro-2026. I had forgotten he left it to me when he passed about 3 years ago. I hooked it up, and it workes, Kind of. I programmed some known freqs in my area. It didn't seem to recieve. I tryed a couple anntennas that I have, and the antenna work just fine on my pro 95, pro 63, and pro 2015. I opened up the scanner and found that the solder point between the board, and the BNC had broke. I resoldered it thinking it would fix the problem. Well it didnt. There are 2 mods done to this scanner. I dont know who did them, and I cant really ask my uncle.... The fist mod is a toggle switch for the back light. It seems to work as it should. Although if you flip the switch up and down (on and off) there is a tiny bit of audible "popping". The next mod is a 9v battery soldered in line with the power supply wires (on the board). I guess this scanner losses memory? I remember when I was a kid that this scanner worked just fine in my Uncle's appartment. Is it possible that over the years it has just gone bad? One thing I did do was program the FRS freqs into the scanner and it will pick up FRS at very close range, like at 2 feet. I really dont have the means to see how far i can get from it to find out the range. Any ideas? Is it possible that someone messed with somthing on the board to affect its sensitivity?
