I was wondering if anybody has had bad reception in the Joliet/Shorewood area. I have a Pro-97 hooked up to a 20-176 antenna in the attic with RG-6. It seems that I have lost most of my strong signals. I can barely pick up Bolingbrook. Joliet trunked comes in clear but along with Oswego and BK but that's about it. I can't even grab a DuComm town clear unless it is after 10 pm. Any suggestions or is it the fact I am using a handheld instead of a base unit.

Thanks

I have (2) RS 20-176 antennas in the attic using 30' of RG6U lowloss coax and using both H/H and base the signals are very good...Also have one out side on a 35' tower and of course that one is even better....A H/H scanner receives just as well as a base on the same antenna....I have a tri-level and the antennas are up at the highest point in the attic...If you have a one story ranch that would be a problem....Every 10' up brings in more coverage....The RS antenna on the tower hears as far north as So. Elgin 477.3625, South as far as Liv Com (Livingston Co, West as far as Marsailles 156.21 PD....Also have good coverage on ILL-Starcom on towers 125-Grundy, T101-Dupage, T102-Argonne using again RG6U.....using new digital scanners......

Ron,

I just raised the antenna higher in the attic so the main reaches the peak. I have a 2 story so height shouldn't be an issue. I also kicked on the ATT for Chicago and that seems to help. I'll see how that goes. It also might be a problem with the scanner if these things don't solve the issue.

Thanks
