Hi all, posting it here in the Uniden forum so all my fellow SDS100/SDS200 owners have a chance to see it before the server crashes from over use. I wanted to share a link to some GREAT reading material, and I'm sure you'll find others on the site, I spent hours there and found an old article I wrote for Monitoring Times when I was 15, it was great. The site also has an awesome group of various style search engines, you can search for a keyword and their OCR software will find it in a magazine... great site... please don't break it by flooding it with requests...LOL

Just saying thank you to all of you who helped me with my SDS100/SDS200 buying decision, despite it starting humming a month AFTER it arrived. ;) If it's been posted previously, please ignore, no need to tell me.

Great work - thanks for this.

I subscribed to all three "back in the day", and have been wondering if/when they'd appear online sometime.

Big thank you to Jen - great find! Now if I can just get them all over to the Kindle on my iPad I'll be set. Lots of good reading there!

Bob Grove said I was the first person to send in a button sequence on how to change the mode to AM from FM in the 138 -144Mhz range on the Bearcat 300 scanner. I have since lost the card I wrote the sequence on; I'll have to see if I can find it. Thanks for the post!

I remember when I first saw Monitoring Times at a book store. On the back cover was an Ad for the IC-R3 and I was like I have to have that scanner! Some years latter I called Icom about it and the guy did tell me it was deaf at receiving wireless cameras, but I bought it anyway. I think it was Bob's site its self that had a store and that's where I bought it. Cost me some $500 if I can remember now. I have a small wireless CCD camera and it works well with the IC-R3. Now a days a lot of your cameras are all WIFI.

I used to buy Popular Electronics as well. I have plans to build a poor man's bug detector and bought the copper clad board kit and all the parts and never put it together. Lats year I think it was I bought a poor man's RF bug detector on eBay. It even detects WIFI and DECT 6.0.

And here it is! https://www.americanradiohistory.com/Archive-Monitoring-TImes/2000s/Monitoring-Times-2000-04.pdf

Wow! That brings back memories. I still have that issue somewhere.

I forgot about that site, lots of back issues of lots of other hobby magazines as well. Also, I can highly recommend Goodreader for iPad. It includes a built-in WiFi interface that you can connect to with a browser on your PC. The browser interface lets you rapidly transfer multiple files from your PC to the iPad with a couple of mouse clicks. I use it all the time to transfer PDF hobby magazines & newsletters for reading on my iPad.

One warning - The real Goodreader app is available only on iPad (the creator makes only an iPad version of the app). There's a bogus Android app also called Goodreader which has nothing to do with the real Goodreader app - it's a rip-off for unsuspecting users.

Thanks so much for the link. Brings back memories of the old Lafayette equipment I used to sell at the local electronic shop in the 70`s , while in electronics school . I still have one of the old Lafayette HA-73a walkies (still works)
