Hi,

I just purchased myself a Uniden BC296 handheld and have tried to program the Port Authorty PD's TRS into the scanner, but do not have sucess in hearing active talkgroups.

I have followed the LCN, set the scanner for EDACS Wide, and have programed the talkgroups in. The scanner will lock onto the system and trunktrack, even ID search, but will not lock on a conversation. I even turned on the Activity ID feature and see the JFK and EWR talkgroups with activity so its not like they arent talking.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Each frequency also needs to be set to Trunk in addition to the steps you've already done.

Did you use the Uniden software that came with it to program?

Any other suggestions? I appreciate the help

Did you also turn on the Trunk Bank and did you program the talkgroups DEC or AFS? I don't have the softqare on this computer but I think you have to tell it which way you'll be entering the talkgrouops. (I always use AFS for EDACS, it's just easier) Also make sure the first LCN starts in the 1st channel in the bank (channel 1, 101, 201, etc) otherwise it won't work.

Other than one of the above items or perhaps missing one of the 7 LCN frequencies, it should like you have it setup correctly.

This was sort of mentioned above, but it's probably the most common error after failing to set the trunk mode both for channels and banks.

If you have programmed talkgroups, then you should be using ID Scan. If you have no talkgroups set up, then you have to use ID Search.

Also make sure none of the frequencies are locked out.

Where are you trying to listen from? The PA system is not knownfor great range.
