Just going to point this out since it has come up in the past:

Fish and Game regulations in your state may have rules regarding the use of radios to coordinate hunting. Check with your local regulations.

There used to be restrictions, but with everyone carrying a cellphone, how would they enforce it? Illegal to text while in pursuit of game?

Yes, many states don't allow using electronic equipment to assist hunting Including using predator and turkey calls. How that affects using radio/cell to keep in touch during a hunt differs. The OP is like you, no home state listed, so who knows.

Look up 'driven hunts'. Two-way radios were used to coordinate a 'directional drive' into obstructions or dead ends in order to trap game. That's the reason why they were forbidden in some States.

Here you can bear hunt with hounds wearing tracking collars one week of the year. My three field checks over 40 years by game wardens involved them looking at my hunting license. The had no interest in the HT I was carrying.

According to the Montana FWP regulations, using electronic communications devices while in the act of hunting is illegal. It includes cellphones and walkie talkies. Using them for safety purposes is okay. You might want to contact them and see how they enforce this.
