Its very likely that PCSO will indeed be switching to MARCS fulltime if the county commissioners approve it (which I have a feeling they will). They currently use a VHF system for most of their dispatching. However, when the units are in the northeast part of the county, the VHF system coverage is poor. They then use the MARCS SO-67 talkgroup at that time.

I hope they do switch to MARCS, sometimes I don't pick them up very well on VHF, plus audio quality on my Pro-106 isn't very good with any kind of analog transmission, but crystal clear on digital.

How does it work now, is there room for Portage SO to move to the MARCS 800 system or would they be forced to the new 700 system?

There's plenty of room for them on MARCS. From what I have heard, they already have 4-5 talkgroups programmed in their radios and ready to go whenever they get the ok to switchover to MARCS.
