I'm not sure the information posted on RadioReference is accurate for Posey County and wanted to ask for input from others in the area to see what others are seeing. I live near USI (western Vanderburgh County) and have programmed my SDS100 with the RR data for Posey County. The closest site to me in Posey County should be Philip Station, but I'm not picking up anything from that site. In fact, I'm only getting two signals from all of the sites and frequencies listed- and they are noted below by an asterisk - 151.1825 on New Harmony and 155.6475 on Prarie - the two sites physically farthest from me, which seems to make no sense. I have heard no traffic from any of them.

Mt. Vernon - 155.0025c 155.6625c 155.8875
Prarie - 155.4225c 155.6475c* 155.4375
New Harmony - 151.1825c* 154.055c 154.8675
Poseyville - 154.7325c 155.8725c 154.7925
Philip Station - 154.7475c 155.085 55.625c

1. My first question then is: are the above frequencies accurate and active and still associated with the indicated sites?

2. My second question is that if you look at the analog frequencies listed on RR, two of them are frequencies that are listed above in the NexEdge site/frequency matrix. As far as I'm aware they can't be both, they either need to be a frequency utilized by the NXDN system or a traditional analog frequency, right? Those frequencies are 155.62500 and 155.08500.

3. My third question is, do we have any more information about the talkgroups in use? RR just lists 1 and 2 as Fire/EMS Dispatch and LE Dispatch respectively. It also lists groups 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, and 11 as "Test" talkgroups.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help shed light on this system!

I'm using an rtl-sdr with dsdplus-fl and listen to the Mt. Vernon tower. I'm in town just blocks away from the tower. I can confirm the freqs for that tower are correct and I hear what seems like all traffic.

I'm going out on a limb here, so someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you will only hear traffic on the Philip Station (Marrs) if there is a radio out that way and affiliated with the site. I believe the Mt Vernon tower hears everything since dispatch is always affiliated with it. However, I'm not 100% on how the trunking system works.

I only have an indoor antenna right now so I'm not able to receive the other towers. Sorry. As far as the TG's, 1 and 2 are the only that 2 that have been identified so far. On TG1 I always hear fire and ems. On TG2 I always hear PD, Sheriff and I believe animal control. I don't listen too often at home so I've never noticed any other TG's being active. I also don't have my setup recording and saving files. Maybe I should. Then I can listen to the other TG's when they are used and maybe help figure out what they are.

Hope some of this helps. I know there are way more knowledgeable folks here that can shed more light.

I turned on recording for my dsdplus-fl and noticed TG-6 was referenced as TAC-4. Also heard a rescue unit on TG-8 making a call to another unit on TAC-6.

So I wonder, since we know tg-1 and 2 already, maybe tg-3 through 8 are tac-1 through 6? Or possibly they are for each of the township vfd's.

I've been saving the recordings while monitoring the posey county nxdn system with a rtl-sdr and dsdplus fl. I have heard the following TG's referenced as TAC channels.

TG 3 as TAC 1
TG 4 as TAC 2
TG 6 as TAC 4
TG 8 as TAC 6

I'm assuming but it's possible TG3 through TG10 are TAC1 through TAC8.

I suspect these may also be for each of the VFD's. Considering there are 8 VFD's in Posey County, that would account for talk groups 3 through 10. I also looked at my radios file in dsdplus and noticed some of the radios that show unit id's or names match up with certain tg usage.

For example, on tg6 I heard them making calls on tac-4. Looking at my radios file I can see all the unit id's referenced match the unit id's on the Marrs Township VFD website. However, these unit id's all start with a 9.

The only other site I found that has a list of unit id's was Wadesville. It shows unit id's that start with 6. So looking at the radios file I see tg8, which was referenced as TAC 6 shows 3 of 4 radio id's recorded belonging to Wadesville. Also heard Dispatch calling Wadesville Fire on TAC 6 using tg8. Then again making another call on tg8 calling Poseyville HG on TAC 6.

On tg4 I see mostly unit id's starting with 12. This was referenced as tac-2 and I think this is for Black Township VFD. I found their website while writing this post and it shows their unit id's start with a 12.

It would have made more sense to match the talk group to the unit id's of each vfd, but maybe this will change.

Lately I have monitored both fire dispatch on the old frequencies and they fall back. The tornado on Denzer Rd somehow effected communications even though the tornado was nowhere near the tower. Its nice to not hear those dying distorted page tones on dispatch on old analog frequencies
