Hi friends,

This is actually my first post on these forums after being a member on this site of 10 years. First, a quick thank you to all you Phoenix area folks, especially the regular contributors, for helping me make sense and understanding out of this crazy Phoenix infrastructure. I moved here from Wisconsin not too long ago, from a rural and mostly all VHF and was in EMS / Fire there but coming here has been a learning experience.

My question is about these Posse's. Kind of out of left field I know. But I know we identified the Sun City West TG but as I have done more research, I have seen numerous units (Westbrook, Sun City, Dreamland Villa, SCW). All of these have formed new groups after the restructure Penzone put in place and with all new uniforms and marked patrol cars. The newest one I found was Dreamland Villa's new Posse car on local EVT group called PrideOutfitting's instagram page. Anyways, these all seem to have their own "dispatch" center of sorts. Do we know any more of these TG's or are they having a slow time migrating over from the old system? It seemed to be all over the place, some UHF, VHF, on MCSO's channels, etc. Any help with these groups of mostly retirement community patrollers would be nice to add to my knowledge.

Lastly, I have an old but trusty HT1000 still programmed with Wisconsin frequencies. Is there anyone out there who would be willing to help me locate a way to program that to Phoenix / Mesa / Rural Metro banks I would very much appreciate it. Willing to pay of course.

Thank you again for all your help guys!

Hunter

So far, the Sun City West Sheriff's Posse is the only one that is active enough to have been identified on the new system, as far as I know.

The Sun City Posse is no longer affiliated with the Sheriff's Office. They're on 860.5375.

The Anthem Sheriff's Posse, formerly on 453.3375 MHz, has been disbanded from what I understand. I don't know what has happened to that license and frequency.

The Sun Lakes Sheriff's Posse was once reported to be on 155.2950, simplex. I don't know if they're still active, or if so, if they're still affiliated with MCSO.

I would assume that un-affiliated community posses will no longer have access to the county radio system.

There seems to be a lot of encrypted TG's now in the 1000-1099 range on the new system where MCSO has their TG's. I'm thinking even the special event TG's are now encrypted. And of course the old analog TG's are gone with the new system being fully P25 Phase II digital. It's possible that some of the posses that have retained their affiliation with the Sheriff's Office could be on any of those encrypted TG's.

The un-affiliated community posses could also be any of the security patrols that have been heard on various private trunked systems around the Valley. What sounds like private security may not be closely investigated enough to determine the actual name of the company, or if perhaps they're an un-affiliated community posse unit patrolling their community.

So, right now, unless a Sheriff's Posse member, a deputy with knowledge of the current radio situation in regards to the posses, or a radio tech with the same knowledge shares what they know, it's a game of hide-and-seek, like much of the new system.

Hi, all! An update on the North Valley Posse frequency, 453.3375 MHz, DCS 115: I've only heard it a few times for events in Anthem near the park. Runs, parades, farmer's markets, etc. I believe it was probably just been kept around for volunteers and people associated to the Anthem Community Council to use for small events that MCSO doesn't cover.

All posse activity outside of that frequency you mentioned will be on the respective MCSO talk groups. Their call sign will be denoted with K(King)123 for example.
