Sorry for the delay in posting....wasn't near computer as this was happening Tuesday night the 10th.
Around 10:30PM, a Fairfax PD officer radioed on station 7 dispatch [West Springfield - TG17040] that VA State Police had a pursuit on northbound Route 123 that was about to enter the county. Not more than 30 seconds later, he reported that they were in Fairfax County...doing 70MPH [posted speed there is 55]. Requested stop sticks, etc. 2 VA SP cruisers and 2 Fairfax cruisers were in the pursuit, which got about 5 miles into the county on route 123, then turned around and headed south.
About 2 miles after the U-turn, Fairfax radioed that suspect vehicle had gone airborne off an embankment at the little shopping center ["the shops at Lorton"???] at cross-street Palmer Drive, and clipped a light pole in the shopping center's parking lot. Car came down on its side and driver was ejected. First officer to find and get to the suspect reported cracked skull and "can see brain matter". Fairfax 1 helo was already responding for the pursuit and switched to medevac role, but decision was made for ground transport. Police at scene requested helo to overfly scene to see "if there were any other bodies" who might have also been ejected. Never heard any transmissions from the medic to Fairfax Hospital [TG18000].
Haven't seen anything about it on TV stations' broadcasts or websites. Once Fairfax got involved in the pursuit, it lasted no more than 10 minutes.
