I would suggest that you discontinue publishing that which you hear on your scanner for the world to read.
You may not be aware of it, but to do so is illegal.
In many instances when this is done a knock on the door is the next step and then a rather substantial fine.
This is one of the reasons that many departments use digital encription to keep this type of information from being transmitted to others.
I am not trying to be a smart a--, but only wanted to let you know the facts about this type of activity.
The rule is: Listen, but do not tell!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

QUICK! Someone call the all the local television, radio and newspapers, because they have been doing this for... well... FOREVER! :)

Not to be a smartass or anything, but is there some exclusion for newsgathering organizations? What about the for-profit incident reporting networks?

Reportingan incident whitnessed by your staff (I.E. News reporters) is not the same as reporting what you hear on a scanner.

Ok folks, none of you are the RF police. His post was fine. For those of you that feel the need to police the forums, please let the moderator (me) do that... not you!

First off I would like to say that if I have in some way insulted someones delicate sensability, I appologize.
It was never my intention to be the "RF police".
I am not a scanner listener but a Technition with over 35 years in the business.
I only recently looked at this web site and noticed that much of the information was incorrect.
My only intention was to assist those in the hobby by correcting some of the mis-information.
In this instance I only posted a comment as to what I knew to be fact.
It's obvious to me that those on this web site only want to hear that which pleases them and not that which is factual.
Within the next 3-5 years 90% of all public service radio systems will be Encripted and this hobby will be no more. They don't want you to listen!
This is of course sad, however the more listeners who continue to break the laws of listening only serve to speed up this process.
My only intention was to bring this to light for those who enjoy listening.
In this time of Homeland Security and FEMA, the worlds most powerful organizations, laws could be made to make scanner listening totally illegal as well as the sale of.
Is this what you want? It's your hobby.
You probably think that I am overreacting, I am not!
