419.0000 Analog PL 167.9
419.2000 Analog PL 167.9

Here around CKB, WV

Interesting. The 167.9 sub-audible tone suggests FBI. For links here in Chicago (no longer in use) the Feebs used 414.275, 419.55, 419.575, 408.225, 414.525, and 419.475. Don't remember if sub-audible tone was used.

Last link frequencies I heard they were using are 1714/1812 MHz and 1746/1842 MHz.

What kind of modulation are you hearing on the two frequencies you posted? Nothing, data, tones, voice?

Those do sound like old FBI link freqs, and they did use PL 167.9 in NY and FL when I heard them a very long time ago. Perhaps getting T1 lines to the high sites in WV is not easy to do, so the old links are still in use.

419.0000 Analog PL 167.9
419.2000 Analog PL 167.9

Confirmed, FBI Police at the WV CJIS Site....Heard Perimeter compound and Gate checks at certain times last night with MDC squelch tails.

Also saw one of thier FBI Police Tahoes with a single UHF encapsulated whip two days ago.

I am only hearing the mobile transmission though, wonder where the repeater freq is? 424.0000?
or 414.0000 maybe. Do UHF splits for repeaters have to be 5000 meg higher or lower?

Any Suggestions???

If they are following the new band plan, look 9 MHz lower for each of those freqs. Perhaps they are not using repeaters at all and all is just plain simplex. Turn off the PL tone and see if the base is using DES encryption. Analog encryption is not transmitted with a PL tone and you may be filtering out the other traffic.

Finally playing around with the V/UHF search files and my first 2 hits (only so far):
163.725 NAC 301 had a quick hit, but no audio noticed
418.625 NAC 156 mentions of someone not paying their mortgage, and someone missing their "pick-up" (strong signal)

Heard in the Syracuse, NY area. B.T.W. if I come across encrypted audio, what wil I expect to hear on my 106? Static? Garbled voice?

Most likely white noise or static from the feds.

163.725 R is a Border Patrol repeater output in most areas.
418.625 R has been the DEA's primary repeater output since the 1980s.

Freq: 407.300 MHz
Mode: Mixed, analog and P25
low signal strength and no bars on the 396T scanner.

Can only catch bits of the P25 signal and the analog is very weak here.
Anyone???
thanks

That is definately DEA. Their old PL tone was 156.7 PL and now they use 156 NAC.

Fits exactly with what I'm hearing. A lot going on now, very surprised it isn't encrypted, but makes for VERY interesting scanning :)

Yes, it does, and we love to listen! But even I have to remind myself not to broadcast real time "in the clear" reports on the forums. We DO want to keep hearing the good stuff, right? ;)

Keep getting signals that last a few seconds, no audio, just sounds like an open mike on my 106.
163.725 NAC 301
172.900 NAC 001
Any ideas what these signals may be?

172.900 TSA tends to stay with NAC 001
163.7250 the 301 says Customs & Border Protection.
Depending on where you are, this could be the old INS
or the US Customs

IF your up near Lake Placid it would be CBP

Picked up 414.675, 419.325 and 165.450 today while searching. I heard voice transmissions on the two UHF freqs. One picked up a PL but I couldnt remember it.

BTW - Received from East Tn Region

I see a lot of activity on 167.55 with NAC 178. I am guessing FBI but haven't found anything to back up that hunch. Everything I have caught is ENC with nothing in the clear.

You might want to try 167.5625 and see if you get a different NAC and better signal strength.

I have 167.5625 programmed as well and do not get any hits there. I allocated 1000 channels for 162 - 174 and scan them all. :D
