162.9000 $C02 - strong. Likely a Repeater not the input as I heard
both Charlie-100 and IL-DOT-221

Anyone know where the Repeater might be as well as the input?

Had a N008 hit on it a couple of weeks ago. Haven't identified its location or input...yet. There is (or was) a 173.1750 FBI South RA repeater at a tower East of I355 on the South side of 143rd,Homer Glen. 162.9000 may be located there.

While in the area, may want to enter 168.9875 N167. It's been semi-active in the morning, I've been chasing its input when I have the time. 170.7250 and 167.4375 are often active, mostly ENC. Before P25, 167.4375 was used for FBI fixed wing ground surveillance. 120.425 is occasionally used for FBI A2A.

Only $C02 was caught on 162.900 in the CLEAR and Sector was R9 as well.

173.1750 is still 167.9 - caught some CLR and DVP/DES
165.9000 was the input

Nothing on 168.9875 while I was there, altho 418.9750 156.7 was very active in the neighborhood [Bolingbrook]

Correct, 165.9000 is the input to the South RA multi-site conventional vote "C" zone. Not P25 yet. For years, BATF channel 5 (simplex) 165.9125 high power mobile and aircraft surveillance transmissions would constantly keyup and cause the South RA repeaters to transmit noise.

DEA is very active in the area. Last summer they conducted "weed" eradication in a couple of Cook County forest preserves a few miles southeast of Bolingbrook.

Thanks you may be right on the 169.325 frequency. It would make sense that I could hear the input for the Conecuh National Forest Repeater since they are so close to me. Sorry no tone found on the wolf call frequency.

140.0875 Wolf Call Range It was Analog. There are still several Analog frequencies out there to listen to. Miltary Bases close to me that I can hear include. Fort Rucker, Eglin AFB, Keesler AFB, Maxwell AFB, Pensacola NAS, Whitting Field NAS, Tyndall AFB and Camp Shelby in Mississippi. I will have to listen more to narrow it down.

This document says that the Shasta McCloud Management Unit uses 172.375 Tone 7 narrowband (which might be PL 167.9) - can anyone confirm the PL ? Is this a "mobile only" freq?

(This is the Shasta Trinity National Forest in northern California)

Anytime both input and output are the same it is a simplex frequency. Base stations, mobiles, and portables may be used, just no repeaters.
The tone is 167.9 per: United States Forest Service Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

This sounds like the same freq. I stumbled upon about 2 years ago. I can't find the freq but it may very well have been the same one. PL was 100.0 also. I did hear references to Range Rd which did make me think at the time it was Ft. Dix also. I picked this up in NW New Jersey near Easton, PA. I never did figure out what it was.

Picked up a couple of strong encrypted freqs in the Lakeland and Tampa Florida area that I can't ID yet.

Plus this clear repeater around St. Cloud or the Spcce Center.

Then there was this one on a band opening. Unknown direction from home.
