The other day the capital area news media reported the arrest in Troy, NY, of someone who escaped from a Tennessee prison in 1989. The day before those reports, I heard 4 or 5 units conducting an ID operation in northern Troy on 164.600 CTCSS 136.5. I have this listed as a U.S. Marshalls frequency, and that is the agency that would be grabbing an escaped convict from across state lines.

163.6500 CTCSS 100.0. I've been hearing what sounds like keyups every 5-10 minutes or so. No voice traffic yet. I'm picking this up in NW New Jersey, might possibly be coming from Allentown, PA. I'm assuming this is ICE or CPB.

Here's an mystery frequency with a mystery NAC,

165.8125 P25 NAC 003 "Mentioned about NET channels and this worked better than Bravo 8"

- This got me puzzled because NET channels, based on common beliefs, are CBP channel plan, yet they mentioned about Bravo 8, which is FBI channel plan. Perhaps the agent was assigned to another agency? Also the NAC code is a new one for me.

165.8375 P25 NAC (003)
168.3000 P25 ENC (CC2)
167.4375 P25 ENC (N207)
167.4625 P25 ENC (N207)

I have no clue on what these could possibly be. Weird NAC codes...

By the way, in a the NJ forum, I found out one of the Federal Courthouse operating in Northern NJ is using 170.7125 with a NAC 293 in clear mode. That was a new one for me in the US Marshal's pool.

Years ago, I believe that the Customs radios were set up the same way as FBI radios, A1-A8 and sets for A, B, C, D, E, F, etc. Maybe they still have similar channels plugged in if it's customs?

Lots of Agencies use "NET", not just CBP

And altho Bravo-8 sounds FBI, with many of the new Radios it could be
Zone B Channel 8 for any system, altho I would use Zone 1 thru ....

Sometimes it really hard to figure them out, keep listening and making the notes.

165.8375 is one I am still tracking down here in New England.
Simplex Surv Ops. My NAC was $001

They also used during this same Surv Ops [Case Closed / Arrests made]
165.4625 $301
165.6875 $301
165.8375 $001
166.4625 No PL / Analog
166.4625 $301
166.4625 $001
165.2375 $301 - Omaha invovled in Surv.
171.0750 missed NAC

Now we know $301 is CBP and typically $001 in Boston is Secret Service

The news Story on this only indicated State Police [Yes , there was 800 TRS Traffic] Federal Agents from DHS and ICE, not much to figure some of these out.

It was interesting, since it all begin with the Analog NO PL, then moved to P25 and Omaha was picking Channels and NAC Codes, trying to find them.

165.8375 P25 NAC (003)
168.3000 P25 ENC (CC2)
167.4375 P25 ENC (N207)
167.4625 P25 ENC (N207)

I have no clue on what these could possibly be. Weird NAC codes...

$207 has been found/reported to be FBI in the Atlantic City area, so might this be NJ FBI's NAC to prevent interference with NYC?

I am loving these reports! Little by little it is all starting to take form. I envy you guys up north with all that P25 traffic. We are still in the dark ages down here. :(

Thanks Bill, so far only 2 frequencies on my record shows $207. It could very well be the case since we know they have the capability to go "wide-area" on certain frequencies.

Dark ages as you may call it, but I actually prefer analog stuff over P25. Human ears do better with analog than digital :)

You got that right. Out here if you listen to analog, you have to wade through all of the mexican traffic. If you listen to digital only then everything is P25 and encrypted.

These are going to be mostly Customs freqs. 166.4625 is Treasury Common and 164.2375 is Net 1. Omaha is a Customs callsign. So the good news is that since the operator was picking channels, you have a good many of their regular channels w/ NAC codes and all. Great catch!

Yup, correct. It was odd those they are still using CSQ [Analog] and the multiple NAC Codes
