I am looking to add a hardwired inverter to the vehicle to run at most two laptops, cell phone(s) and GPS. I have heard Cobra isnt a good brand as they are made cheap and break easily. Any suggestions? Hardwired and 500W minimum required.

Check out Harbor Freight Tools They have inverters up to 1500watts for a good price. I have a 1000w unit installed in my work truck for my laptop and some cordless tool chargers ( Note: some chargers will not work on inverter power and will burn out) Did find out that even though it is rated for 1000w it would NOT run a 850w corded drill. :(
Northern Tool and AW Direct are 2 other places to check.

That's because most power inverters put out a square wave and not a sine wave that most motors are looking for.
