SDS100/SDS200: power surge on USB port

using brand new cable. plugged into USB port on laptop. connecting to micro USB port on SDS200 scanner. received message, Power Surge on USB Port.
unable to access the scanner, what is going on?

Couple of possibilities.
The joys of plug and play and Windows failing to properly recognize a device for God knows what reason..
I'd just open device manager, find the device in question (should have the yellow triangle) and remove it.
Reboot.
Solves this most of the time

Remember, if charge while on is set, the radio will draw a coupe of amps.
Which may be the cause of this, if the USB port isn't USB3 (??)

Did you receive this message on your laptop, or on your SDS 200 ? I've never seen that before.
