Ok, no I didn't rob my kids battery out of his power wheels toy, lol!
Basically this is a gel cell battery with a power wheels logo.
Somebody dropped this 12vdc battery @9.5 ah in the garbage and it's in good shape.
I got the hair brain idea to use this as a back up battery for a 12vdc power source, so anyone ever try using one of these to maybe power your scanner or ham rig? If so what voltage, current did you use to charge it?? How long did it hold a charge?
The charger they design for it is $25 at wal mart.

Thanks for any info! :)

You can safely dump up to about an ampere of current into it, but you have to stop the charging when the battery's voltage gets up to about 14V to prevent gassing, otherwise you'll ruin it. How you manage to do that is up to you. FYI, good chargers use a multi-stage design - high current bulk charge, then low current top off, then a trickle charge maintenance mode.
