Hi.. I listened to all the Great reviews about this charger and decided to buy one.. Not so good.. After using MANY other Smart Chargers, the C9000 in my opinion is OUT of DATE.. PowerEx needs to get with the program.. the biggest thing I noticed right off the bat was, it was hard and not smooth to remove batteries from charger.. I was thinking why is this? that told me right there what I was dealing with... plus the OLD TECHNOLOGY.. they are milking their product... just my 3 cents.. I'm returning it tomorrow morning.. <smile> I see PowerEx management in the near future sitting down in a big meeting and asking and discussing "what is happening with our sales, do you think we need to update?)..Their IMEDION batteries are Good but have a short lifespan.. I would say they need to get with the program.. and come out with a new product.. but they probably also realize I assume that it's a small market with lots of competition, so why bother.. but my initial impression of the PowerEx MH-C9000 was not good at the very least.. I think they need to re-Analyze their Analyzer... :)

I must have got a DUD.. it's very difficult to remove batteries from charger.. It's kinda like finding it hard to open a stuck door on a new car.. :)

The C9000 grips the batteries firmly, because that's important when charging cells. The ball and chain has no trouble inserting or removing cells when she needs to recharge her mouse or flashlight, so no, the C9000 does not need a redesign.

The firmness helps ensure good contact on both ends of the battery. Unless you have to pry them out with a crowbar, I wouldn't worry about it.

Surely you jest!

Angle the batteries in, although yes, AAA can be a tad finicky without practice.

Still, the best engineered charger out there if you care about your cells, or in fact do analyze them rather than just drop them in and walk away (which you can do). Others are wanna-be imitators.

Undocumented feature like showing the user the actual impedance of the cell, a two-hour top-off followed by a *true* low current trickle not damaging to cells, etc etc.

Instead of rehashing it all here, perhaps take a look at the decade long support thread(s) over at Candlepower forums.

What's really out of date is nimh itself in our scanners. :)

Hi.. I'm not bashing the charger.. just being factual.. the Charger needs a Tune-Up, new spark plugs, wires, timing belt etc.. LOL.. if you haven't already, you should try some of the other most popular chargers as well..

Hi All.. I'd like to rescind my previous comments and criticisms about the Maha C-9000.. I bought another the other day and I took some time with it and I like it.. Batteries come out easier.. not a big deal anyways.. I had it in my head that since it has not been updated that much, it was not so good.. I'm just use to Hi-Tech and recently Engineered and Designed TOYS.. however after trying many chargers, I have to admit I was wrong. I jumped to conclusions before giving it a fair chance.. :) Please forgive me..

No problem Doug!

I'm not sure what sort of update would be necessary, unless one wanted to turn it into something like a multi-purpose hobby RC charger, like my iCharger 306b which I use for various purposes and chemistries. Better get your settings right! Instead of blowing out a small set of AA's, with one fell swoop I could take out $400 worth of high-capacity LiFeP04's. :)

Or, one could endlessly track the combo nimh/li-ion chargers, like Xtar, Fenix, etc that the flashlight guys over at Candlepower forums do. I've got a few of those too!

The 9000 isn't the only solution - it is just very hard to beat out of the box.

I'm familiar with the CPF thread but I don't recall the undocumented features, where did you see them?

I still prefer NiMH until someone can come up with another battery technology that can last a decade.
