Was listening to a bank rob earlier today on BOEC (TG -LAW 1), and heard one of the LEO's/Detectives say,
"Do you have your FBI Radio? We can talk on that"

The other LEO/Detective responded "Yes, I'll have to get it out and plug it in"

I had no clue they had FBI Radios.

Anybody know or heard of this? I found it really interesting.

Thanks! =)

And here is a wealth of additional info from earlier in the year when Portland was considering rejoining the JTTF (and did, but only as a "participant", not a "member" in April '11):

My guesstimate is PPB has access to FBI radios, and vice-versa for some level of interoperability. Perhaps the conversation you heard earlier involved switching over to the FBI system to eliminate any eavesdropping about sensitive case info.

This is true, the FBI are using XTS5000's and they are being used by the Oregon Fugitive Task Force also with the Marshals also. Google the Oregon Task Force and look at the pics, there's an FBI agent with a guy in a tactical vest and an XTS5000 in his vest. It has an VHF dipole on it. (I got bored one morning at 3AM and then I asked a friend).
