PPSTN P25 trunked radio system status messages.
These are seen on the other events tab of the Pro96com program.
What are these messages used for ?

The status 1 message is by far the most common status message seen on this system.
This status message comes up just before an RCMP talkgroup user contacts control (the dispatcher).
Looking at the channel grants that follow the status 1 message there are 2 quick channel grants that come
from control and then the user that sent the status 1 message will show up in the following channel grant.
The status 1 message is not seen on the trunked site when control initiates the call.
If status 1 messages is not see then the user that placed the call to control is on another P25 trunked site
in the system. Check the affiliations tab for that user. A status message can be sent to control even when
all avalable TGs/channels are in use.

So what does the status 1 button on the radio do ?
This is the tone button used to "Key-up" the repeater. The RCMP's old radio system had this feature.
The tone button was used to link the repeaters together to reach the dispatcher (control).
When the new PPSTN P25 system was designed the RCMP requested that it also have this same feature.
When an RCMP member wishes to contact Regina control, he/she will push the "tone" button on the radio.
The Regina control dispacher will hear a tone and see the users RID show up and then answer the call.

The status 2 message is used in this same way by Sask Power Corp.

There are several more status messages seen on this system but their use is unknown at this time.
Status messages 3,4 and 5 have come up but there are never channel grants that follow them
Most often these other status messages are sent to control by F-Division GIS, ERT, MCU members.
The RCMP's other divisions program the status message buttons on their radios with their 10-codes.
Some of the divisions have 10 - to -15 or more of these status buttons programmed to send their 10-codes.
The new RCMP 10-codes 10-1 up to 10-59 came into use on July 26, 2013
