• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

does anyone know if the PR400 is capable of this? i have an HT1250 and 750 and i am able to make them "beep" when i am scanning and there is traffic on my priority channel. im running an older version of cps that was purchase when my fire dept used them a couple of years ago and im not exactly familiar with these specific radios yet.

i searched through help topics and index where it indicated that it was possible but had no information specific to lead me in the right direction, unlike cps for my 1250 which includes links an detailed instruction.

any input would be awesome!

Like you, I learned the CDM/HT Professional Series CPS first. When I got the Commercial Series CPS, I discovered that there were very few commonalities and had to do a lot of learning all over again. Motorola doesn't seem to do things consistently across multiple CPS platforms.

Let me suggest that you make sure you are in Expert Mode, and then study the heck out of the code plugs. There are codeplugs for each different model of the Commercial series down in a folder called Samples in Program Files --> Motolrola - Commercial Series. I found that helped me get up to speed very quickly.

Open the program, read the radio, then on the left select scan, on the main screen you have a couple of selections for now the scan works.

Next select scan list, and set up the channels to scan. by selecting channel from the left and move it to the right then go to the bottom of the page and select the priority.

That should do what you what.

How would I go about upgrading the codeplug version on a pr400? Ive never done it before with any of the radios I deal with regularly.

there are options that i would like to enable, such as mdc calling, which requires a codeplug version of 3.01 or above. The radio is 3.0 at this time.
