So the power goes off at my place.

Methinks, "hey, I have a new scanner, let's see what's happening". So I get the local Hydro company Scanlist up on my new TRX-1 and sit back and listen.

Sure enough, some chatter about a problem on the main street through my area--crew on the way. About a half hour later, tech reports one phase is down, and calls for certain parts. Another 45 minutes and the chatter is about flipping breakers. And about 5 minutes after that, power's back on.

Scanner was very useful! Had it seemed like something more complicated, then I would have been prepared to fire up the generator at the house. But given that Hydro seemed to have it well in hand, I just enjoyed the entertainment!

Does anyone know the frequencies used for Hydro Ottawa? I checked TAFL but its all 900MHz LMR-Digital and I think it's power station data links. Any ideas?
