So how would one go about preloading a statewide trunk system (actually 2) for an upcoming trip and how would it work as I'm mobile?

I'd like to preload the sites and the talkgroups I'm interested in so while I'm travelling, I can be hands off as much as possible. I'm hoping to avoid having to use a computer to switch sites. Ideally I'd have one system in one zone and the other system in the other zone so I can switch zones when I get close to the state line.

I can't speak for best roaming behavior, but I have loaded our entire state system's TG list into BTConfig without issue. If I remember past posts, it was suggested to establish roaming with all of the sites on your way loaded into roaming flash, but with a long value for Switch control channel after XX seconds of inactivity. This way a temporary loss of signal won't trigger a roam through multiple sites to find the next one.

How did you handle the frequencies? Did you go through the database and select every possible control channel?

So is there an easy way to enter in all the control channels without having to hand type them all in or at least an ability to export a CSV file that someone else can import?

Could you send me a sample of a CSV file that you would like to be able to import? Let me know which version of the software/firmware you are planning on using for your trip and I'll get that done first. I'm currently working on getting PL tones filtered out. Taking longer than expected.

I'd probably just grab the csv file that RadioReference generates although once I have a csv file, I can manipulate it easy in a spreadsheet.

Here's a quick grab of the site file for the Michigan State system:
Code:
RFSS,Site Dec,Site Hex,Site NAC,Description,County Name,Lat,Lon,Range,Frequencies
1,024,18,791,Jackson County Simulcast,Jackson,42.234768961666965,-84.41344040323736,21,769.556250,769.931250,770.331250,771.031250,773.481250,774.231250,851.337500,851.562500,851.775000,852.187500,853.175000,853.550000,861.287500,861.637500,861.962500
1,026,1A,796,Eaton County Simulcast,Eaton,42.5999355675727,-84.83727162937066,17.5,769.806250,770.756250,772.531250,772.993750,774.031250,852.575000,852.800000,853.312500,856.937500,858.062500,858.312500,858.762500

Here's the talkgroup format:
Code:
Decimal,Hex,Alpha Tag,Mode,Description,Tag,Category
1,001,MPSCS OTAP,D,MPSCS OverTheAir Programming,Data,MPSCS Technicians
2,002,56MOSQUITO,D,Midland County Mosquito Control,Public Works,Midland County 56 Public Works
3,003,23OPS9,D,PoliceFire Tactical 9,Multi-Tac,Eaton County 23 CommonInterop

As for the software version, right now I'm running the multimode scanning software but can easily switch to one of the earlier versions that had the built in database.

Are these outputs available to subscribers? I used the DSD file format from RR for the talk groups because I couldn't find anything else. These files look excellent. I will definitely add support.

Probably just for Premium Subscribers but there's also a DSD version that can be downloaded as well:

Screen Shot 2022-05-01 at 16.25.45.png

Unfortunately the DSD formatted sites file doesn't give frequencies:
Code:
P25,92493.796,1.001,"Dimondale"
P25,92493.796,1.003,"Ithaca"
P25,92493.796,1.004,"Owosso"

The talkgroup download has more info:
Code:
P25,92493.796,1,50,Normal,0,0000/00/00 0:00,"[MPSCS OTAP] MPSCS OverTheAir Programming"
P25,92493.796,2,50,Normal,0,0000/00/00 0:00,"[56MOSQUITO] Midland County Mosquito Control"
P25,92493.796,3,50,Normal,0,0000/00/00 0:00,"[23OPS9] PoliceFire Tactical 9"

I apologize I didn't see this sooner. I only run five control channels that span my commute to/from work. All were available in the DB search function within BTConfig. I do like the future ability to import RR CSV files though!

How did you handle the frequencies? Did you go through the database and select every possible control channel?
