I want to switch over to AT&T and i want to get the iPhone, but i don't want to be stuck in a contract, is it possible to use the iPhone prepaid, all i am concerned about it making and receiving phone calls and sending and receiving text, has anyone done this and what are your opinions on it?

Why get an iPhone if all you are interested in is calls and text. Seems like overkill to me. If you are interested in the apps look at the iTouch.

No prepaid on the iphone, however, you can buy an iPhone off of the internet somewhere (macrumors.com, other mac sites, ebay) and not have to sign a contract just to get service.

That's correct. I've done the same thing. Try Craigslist too.
