We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

I am pretty sure the top three for number one killer in America is smoking, Heart disease and Obesity.

Prescription drugs fall pretty far down the list there.

You are injesting chemicals into your body that are man made mostly. Why wouldn't they be bad for you? True, they benefit 9 times out of 10. I hate to even take a tylenol or BC powder. I try to tough it out as long as possible, but when it starts hurting too bad or I am too sick, I go get the meds I need. :D

I have chronic backpain. Tasty items on my menu include Percocet (for emergency use, not for recreational purposes !), Tramacet (when needed) and Baclofen (just started these ones) and several anti inflammatories that were useless. At physio today, I found out that a certain blood thinner is actually rat poison...any one take Coumadin ??? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Warfarin mmmm yummy !!!

Edit: Wanna blow something up ? Just use your heart medication, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nitroglycerin

All Joking aside we are and have been used for test purposes, I was talking to 2 doctors during my Paramedic in hospital hours and the subject came up about prescription medication and they both agreed that no one in their families would be given anything that was not approved and out at least 5 yrs. So the next time your doctor states he/she wants you to try a new drug you may want to ask them if they would prescribe it to their families...........hoser147

Sometimes the newer drugs have less side effects, sometimes they don't. But most of the time you can use generics (Costing far less) "if" you ask you doctor to prescribe them. If you don't ask them they will prescribe the newest most expensive drugs. Why? Who knows? The generics work just as well and do the same job. My doctor wanted to prescribe me Lipitor. I ask him if there was a generic that I could use. He put me on "Gemfibrozil" generic for Lopid. Ask your doctors to prescribe you a generic it will save you.

The liver count test is just normal precedure for the chelesterol drug. I have to take "Methotrexate" for psoriasis and the doctor sent me to get a liver biopsy (This is where the doctor sticks a probe into your liver and then pulls a little piece of your liver out to be tested). Once you pass the byopsy they can put you on the drug. After that you have to have your blood checked every two months. The good thing is that the psoriasis is wiped out. To tell you the truth I really don't think about it. If you want to look the medication up and see a list of the potential side affects check out.

Colonoscopy Probe--being a retired electical type, I thought it was a piece of 3/0 wire with a lighted eyeball on the end of it.

I'm glad it wasn't as stiff as a piece of 3/0 :)
