• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am trying to get my Washington radio to work and am having some issues. This radio has the 5 pin connector for the mic. I am using a D-104 lollipop also with a 5 pin connector. something is not right. I key up the mic and the TX is very weak. receives great! I am running a procomm antenna at bout 40 feet to the base of the antenna. SWR's are excellent! I also have a Palomar 90a connected. with the amp turned on all my needles bounce all over the place. I have taken the radio set up down and installed a different radio. I attached a COBRA 29PLX in its place. again SWR's are still great. just can not get a reply to see if it is getting out. I have ran the Washington in Colorado for years and could talk DX all day long. I move to Oklahoma and can get any farther than a mile at best. what am I doing wrong? I am wanting to do a full upgrade and start doing ham radio stuff but if I can not get a CB to work I am not sure I want to start thinking about ham!!!!!! I am sure there is a simple fix I just need to find it. If I have not explained something well enough please let me know.

So the other radio transmits ok ?
You may have the microphone wired wrong for tx. or have a broken wire.
Try using a dummy load and a watt meter to see what the radio is doing...
Or use an external power supply to run the radio... maybe the internal power supply has a faulty regulator.

I do know the Washington gets out about a mile. The cobra I have not tried yet with two radios. It seems that when I leave the house every one else wants to go as well. I did some looking at the mic and yup there is my problem I have wires going this way and that, these two soldered together and nit to a post, yeah I think that's the prob.

With out the palomar turned on I have great SWR settings. I turn the amp on and things start going hay wire. I loose the SWR'S the watt indicator starts jumping around. yeah not a good thing. I think its done. I am putting out the normal 4 watts on both radios.
