• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

….and it begins. Much like the Uniden 880/885/980 screen / front panel, issues are starting now with the Washingtons. Saw this on Reddit.

all of a sudden the button lights went real dim and have stayed that way since. I have tried turning off and back on, disconnecting power completely, factory resetting and still having same issue. Knob backlights also seem to be glitching (please see picture)...the screen will be one color and the knobs will be different.

2). Roof-center permanent NMO antenna.
3). Headrest mount speaker.
4). Graveyard-quiet 13V DC.

Sittin’ at home in the driveway and mess’n with the truckers on the big road eighteen-miles away . . who maybe think he’s a couple miles out ahead of them.

Do it Once, and Do it Right.

That’s base station (vertical antenna) performance.

all he needs is the magnetic mag mic holder on the dash and it will be 100% perfect! mag mic holder I LOVE mine.... BillDean if you buy it, you will love it too..... it gets the mic off the seat / cup holder..... when you need it you slide it off the magnet... when done talking you just put your hand near the magnet and it will suck the mic out of your hand and that's where it will stay!!!....
mine is always out of the way and I can get it and hang it up without taking my eyes off the road.
if you buy one... you will have to find a place on the dash that has the dash frame behind the dash and bolt it in... as it is so strong it will just rip the dash out if you don't have it bolted to the dash frame.

I’ve been looking at my pickup dashboard face again for this. I’d have to reinforce the back-side, alright.

my Ford has a metal frame behind the dash that runs around the dash.... we found a spot where the metal dash frame connects to the firewall.... I was lucky to find it.... if not that powerful magnet would certainly crack my plastic dash.
if I didn't find the frame I was thinking of putting a block of wood behind the dash with a huge glob of silicone sealant to firm it all up then screw the magnet through the plastic dash into the block of wood.

Read my mind.

“Where” is the rookie question on many parts of the install. It’s cabling/wiring runs that slow the more experienced.

I have to figure out where to mount phone, GPS, and mic.

Mic will hang from GearKeeper (mirror) until a complete solution comes up.

I notice the LIDO L-ML-MAX now has the brace leg available (takes same from 8# to 17# capacity) and getting radio, GPS and mic on that arm platform + extension looks to be my future ideal if I run an amp from under back seat.
