Pri. on BC296

On a BC296D, If I have Arapahoe County programmed into Bank one(works fine) and have my Ham repeaters programmed into Bank 2 how do I get Bank one to be the priority? It seems I can listen to one or the other. I would like to listen to 2(Ham) but have bank one take control for a call. I know the pro 96 can do it but haven't been able to get the 296 to cooperate. Yes, I did hit the pri. button but nothing much seems to happen. Help would be appreciated.

I don't know if this is correct, but I thought the priority only worked within a bank. At least that's the way it works with a Pro94 ( Uniden ).
