Except for a few third party sellers, (eBay and others), the cost has been consistent with demand and availability. The Uniden SDS100 has been around $650 for several years, the same with the SDS200. These are flagship scanners and the only ones that do simulcast.

UNIDEN SDS-100

Depending what you mean by your statement and what you are looking for, some older scanner show up with a smaller price tag. Your area is a gold mine:

Bergen County, New Jersey (NJ) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

I see you posted in the New Jersey state forum and how you get the answers you need. Only other suggestion is to monitor the Classifieds there might be a scanner show up in a price range you might like.

Best to google search daily for what you want and be ready to jump when you find a deal. But, just because it’s a little less that most, there shipping costs may put it right even with the others. As posted above, supply and demand for the prices. Good luck.

The 536 has jumped up to $650 on Amazon from $500 a few days ago. The 996P2 jumped to $400 from $350 recently. They’re sold by 3rd party sellers. Amazon themselves has the 436 for $522. I’m wondering if these are temporary or if they are the new normal.

I have seen this happen before on various products, not just Uniden or even scanners. Many companies when they perceive the market for their product fading will jack up prices to get the most they can before the market drops out. In the case of scanners, as more and more larger metropolitan areas switch to encrypted communications, less people in those areas are likely to purchase new scanners, causing the market to grow significantly smaller since the majority of new scanners are usually purchased in those markets. So as a result sellers are trying to get the most they can before the market collapses.

Amazon prices for amateur radio gear can vary widely, often their prices are significantly higher than HRO etc.
It's generally not best source for such items, in fact I've seen ham gear priced higher at Amazon even when you look closely you see the actual source is a ham radio retail outlet, they're just selling radios via Amazon. I think they're aiming at potential customers who are not familiar with the usual retail price of gear at traditional amateur radio outlets.

Just had my 325P2 order on Amazon canceled. Said undeliverable address. That’s BS as I just had an amazon order delivered yesterday. It was $325. I ordered from HRO after I verified my refund. Won’t order any radio gear from Amazon again.

LOL. Amazon is a complicated place from both sides of the coin.

Amazon drivers around here don't appear to be high school graduates. I much prefer a Teamster driver from UPS, they get real work done.

I sell product on Amazon and as a 3rd party seller I feel like a red headed step child. But, I just raise my prices for items sold on Amazon to cover my costs for selling in that environment.

As a buyer, always look to buying direct from the seller, if a 3rd party seller is involved. But you can't just ask them using Amazon messaging. There are several reasons, but the most important is receiving messages from 3rd party sellers is turned off by default. Even if they reply, you won't know it.

Best way - google up the company name of the 3rd party seller. Contact them through the method listed on their website. Life can be better without Amazon.

... undeliverable address...
When I receive an order from someone on Amazon, there is a flag if they are a repeat customer. I'll check their previous orders to see if there were any problems. If I find problems and decide I don't want to deal with them again. I'll cancel the order and mark it undeliverable address. On some level, it's not wrong.

Unfortunately, buyers can't be blocked on Amazon like they can be on eBay.

Was your canceled order "Sold by" and "Ships from" Amazon.com or from a 3rd party seller?

That sale price of $399.95 with FREE shipping at Ham Radio Outlet seems to be about the best deal right now on the BCD325P2 (with the exception of Amazon who canceled your order for $325). Just about everybody else (Scanner Master, Zip Scanners, Bearcat Warehouse, Webtron-x and Uniden.com) is charging the same exact $449.99 price right now which from my own personal observations is a definite price increase from very recent pricing at the end of 2023. Perhaps Uniden wanted to make more of a price spread between their current scanner models and their two new models to make the new models more competitive in the marketplace?

The price on Amazon right now is $328.24, sold and shipped by Amazon. The $325 price the last couple of days was by a third party vendor.

It was shipped by amazon. Was not aware it was 3rd party until I did some digging. Would think if shipped by amazon it was in there warehouse. Oh well. Live and learn.

After doing a few minutes of research today, it looks like the list price has gone up substantially on the 436, 536, 996, etc. I thought it was just a quirk of Amazon, but I’m seeing the higher list prices for those items at Scannermaster, HRO, etc. They had been in the same price range for quite a while, so it seems the cumulative effect of inflation finally reached the Uniden scanner family.

Just today I bought a used sds200, practically new in the box, came with GPS Kit and a small desktop antenna...all for the amount of $500.00 dollars. GPS kit still in box and plastic wrapping. I also saw another person who wants to get rid of their sds 100 for $350.00. There are some good deals out there., we just need to look for them.

I would definitely be interested in the sds100, can you hook me up with this person?
