Snagit will be the best and most comprehensive and complete software here but it cost.

paint.net is free

CTRL is not needed for the PRT SCR command key. just simply tap PRT SCR to grab whatever is viewable on your screen and copy a image to the Windows Clipboard. CTRL + SHIFT will activate the Sys RQ function which is older IRQ HALT invoke key that was just never taken out.

it is still present in modern LINUX systems though.

How do you paste it. For example, if I want to paste it in a new RR thread, how would I do that. I can copy it to paint, but I don`t seem to be able to move it form there, thanks.

I know I can do that but that isn't what I want to do. What I want to do is print screen and paste it into a form like RR?

In order to cut and paste you have to highlight the information you want, then right click and select copy, then go to the form you want and right click and select paste.

A screenshot will not do this as far as I know

Print screen then go to paint and paste it to a new file. I use dropbox for cloud storage and it automatically saves it to an image file right when you hit print screen. Pretty nice.

bravo when you press PRT SCR that takes whatever is on your display and puts it on the "clipboard" you have to paste those contents from the clipboard to the image program you use.

again, CTRL is NOT needed for PRT SCR

PrtScn to copy the entire visible screen but if you only want to copy the active (topmost) window, use ALT-PrtScn. It saves some cropping if you are only interested in one window.

If you use 2 monitors, it makes a difference what you press in order to "capture" the active screen.

Pressing just the print screen button will capture both monitors.
Pressing Alt + Print screen will capture whichever screen is active at the time.

true, but CTRL does nothing to PRT SCR.... CTRL will activate the SYS RQ function present in Linux/Unix/ and very old versions of Windows and Dos

This was something I've been looking for. Thanks
