Well I have another question (sorry), anyway, I see that you can set the scanner for Priority ON, OFF, PLUS ON. I didnt understand how to set the TG as priority tags so I called Uniden Tech Support and the guy told me the scanner is too new and he didnt know how to work the priority feature. He said for me to go to this website and ask and someone here would know. Funny isnt it. Anyway, how do you set a TG as a priority? And what is the difference between ON and PLUS ON.

The 396 does not allow for setting a specific trunked radio system talk group as a priority channel. There's a long discussion of that within the 396 post-release thread. The bottom line is that to do so, the scanner would actually need two separate receivers, to be able to find the control channel on the system in question, check for activity on the 'priority' talkgroup (or groups, if more than one were set). All without losing it's place in what it was scanning before it took a time out to check for priority actvity. That feature is on a number of user's wish list for future scanners.
As for the difference between Priority, Priority Plus, & Off:
Priority Off, obviously, is no priority channel scan.
Priority is scanning the priority channels for activity evrey few seconds. The rest of the time, the radio scans all of it's channels normally.
In Priority Plus mode, the scanner only scans channels designated as Priority channels. Since you can't designate a trunked system talkgroup as a priority channel, if you were in Priority Plus mode, you would, in effect, not be monitoring any trunked system. Ony those converntional channels tagged as 'priority' would be scanned.

This answers my newly posted question somewhat...but I have a big discrepancy type question.

So, you're telling me then, that the 296 had 2 different receivers being as you could do Priority TG's???

Not trying to stir the pot, just trying to understand the situation.

Thats the downfall of the BCD396T scanner is that is doesn't have the priority in a trunked system like the bc250d has. I just don't understand the logic of going backwards on a new scanner..oh well.

But my 296 did...and still does. It must hold a a TG to opereate properly, but even that would be more than the 396 offers.
