There is an uprising in a Baltimore prison at the moment. Complete lockdown, calling for medical help, moving some prisoners to the courtyard. Not sure which prison this is but it has a north and a south wing. Frequency involved is 158.925. They are referring to "Code" situations, e.g., Code 4, Code 5, which I don't have a clue what they mean. I only have one scanner at this location so can't check other units such as Baltimore PD, EMS units or MSP.

[Edit] They have mentioned keeping the juveniles in the "school trailer" locked down until further notice. This should be a clue as to which prison this is.

This whole episode is taking place in "J" Section.
Just notified guards/officers on scene that there are additional police in the intake units in the north and south wings that can be called to help.
They are using Codes and 10-codes that I'm not familiar with so those are no help. Even their phonetic alphabet is unique. J is for Jack, K is for Kite - referring to sections of the prison wing. K Section is now cleared, evacuating to the gym.

I just submitted this freq, callsign, and PL tone to the database last week. The callsign is assigned to the state Corrections Department. The "Baltimore" aspect comes from an old freq list from years ago. This certainly sounds like a juvie detention center.

Final Edit: The whole episode lasted from about 11:45 until about 12:30 when things seemed to be back under control.

A thought...

I am not sure, but I do believe this occured at the Supermax prison in downtown. There was some talk on some of the district channels about bringing prisoners to the district station, and they will hold them there....

No sure if it is related, or not....

It almost sounds like this may have been at central booking due to the reference to intake and juveniles. This also explains why they would take prisoners to the local station for booking during the problem.

Bill, I'm not familiar with the facility for Central Booking. Does it have two big wings and facilities such as a school and gym such as described in the traffic above? I was under the impression this was a full blown prison by the descriptions but I could be very wrong if Central Booking has such things.

It's a pretty big place with two housing wings. Check out the link below.

Yes...most of what was heard above could fit into that description Bill. I also went from that site to the Baltimore City Detention Center site and I suppose that could also fit. We've got two frequencies involved that probably encompass the two facilities - this one at 158.925 and the one on 153.86. I'm leaning toward the 158.925 freq being Central Booking though. I'll have to give them more attention. There is also the 153.905/158.97 pair for the Jessup prisons for those interested in this type traffic. 153.905 is where you get both sides of the conversation although it is probably too weak to copy unless you're within 10-15 miles of it.

Before central booking, all prisoners were booked at the precinct in which they were arrested so it makes perfect sense that if something were hapening at central booking, they would transport to their precints holding cell.

I've never seen a gym at CBIF. Could be wrong but I don't think there is one there since most arrestees don't saty very long.

Wagons taking prisoners to a district first is not unusual at all. Most districts actually take all prisoners to the district first to be debriefed and make one big run to CBIF when there are enough for a wagon load.
