Does anyone know any frequencies/talkgroups for prisons in Maryland? In particular, The Baltimore Central Booking Intake Center or the Baltimore City Detention Center? (both are run by the Maryland Division of Pre-trial Detention and Services) Any other State or County prison frequencies/talkgroups would be appriciated.

Thanks to all who reply.

laose, there is at least one detention center included within the Baltimore City net (TG5120) but I have no idea which it is. There is the same thing happening within the Howard County digital net (TG42448) and in Baltimore County it's TGs 7024 and 7056. Again, I don't know which detention centers they belong to.

Other prison activity I hear on 153.905 mHz. I'm fairly sure it's one of the Jessup prisons. Most of the units I'm told use low power transmitters but there are a couple using normal power. At 4:20 p.m. and again at 12:20 a.m. every night (and probably at the end of the midnight shift in the morning) you can hear a roll call of all the units. If nothing else, it lets you know how many units have radio stations within the prison and which few operate on normal power.

Let me make a small correction to what Tin Ear said. 5120 is corrections but is used by the home detention unit. I don't think it's related to the prison or central booking at all.

Thank you Tinear for the Jessup frequency. Thats great and I will have to check it out later tonight. I Know of the others you mentioned. The Baltimore County frequencies are no doubt for their booking and pre-trial facilities. As Mlevin said, the home detention talkgroup in the city is fairly active but not associated with Central Booking or the Detention Center in the City. I would really like to find those frequencies though. Maybe someone has a connection or two in the jail system (ha*). As I said in my first post, both city facilities that I am looking for are run by the state if that helps anyone to find out. Thanks again Tinear and Mlevin.

The roll call you hear is a state wide network used as a radio check of all the prisons. Each prison has a few low watt channels. They are so low that some of the radios are unreadable inside the walls of the prisons. With all of the budget cuts in the DOC there will probably be more and more calls for help by the officers.

add this to the list

866.4625 - Ordnance Road correctional facility, AA county

In fact, it might pay to check the unused 800 mhz frequencies in the FCC db for other prisons (tho it might be even harder to hear 'em with lo power).

rfco2000, the roll call I hear on that freq appears to be from one prison rather than a statewide comm check. I say that because the roll call contains calls to such things as, "west tower, front entrance, 2nd floor," and things like that. I've been concentrating on other new things recently and haven't listened much to that freq in the couple of months since the original postings here so you could be right and perhaps things have changed.
