I've seen a local private ambulance company (rapid response, redford, mi) anyways... they use Nextel for their primary radio system, moved from analog VHF a couple years ago. My question is... obviously on VHF you're speaking on one frequency so everyone can hear everyone else. i think they were on 155.160 direct mode. anyways, my question is.
in my use of nextel you can only call one radio at a time. but when i was sitting next to them having a bite to eat they had their radio up loud and i heard "medic 7 radio"... medic 7... "transporting" "18:35" then heard medic 9 on scene "9 on the scene" anyways, i hear all the traffic from medics/dispatch that would normally have been on the one analog channel before they went digital. how does this work? if they can only contact one radio at a time.
ok thanks.
