I am trying to listen to private medevacs in the Baltimore region and have had zero luck. Has anyone heard any traffic from theses helo's lately ? I follow them on Flight radar to know when they are moving so I know they are on inter hospital transports multiple times daily. I have reviewed the FCC licenses for the businesses mentioned and programmed all the frequencies I could find. I know they are busy enough I should here something. The frequencies posted in RR have tags of Dispatch / operations but are silent to me. The reason I think I may not have the correct frequencies are because I live in DE where Air methods Life Net fly's and I hear them get Tone out on there own frequency and then communicate with Aircomm. I'm assuming the Baltimore area medevacs would operate similar.

Not part of my original question but just a side note. As for MSP I have been told that 44.74 is still active and patched into 7Air60 but that is also very weak until I'm in the sweet spot of about a 40 mile radius of Baltimore city.

You can occasionally hear the private air ambulance services communicating with SYSCOM. They may be dispatched for inter-hospital transfers by landline as they are not primary for traumas in Maryland (although they'd love to have that revenue stream.)

thank you for the reply. I guess I should have said that LifeNet in DE is our secondary helo. Our primary 911 ems transport is Delaware state police. I understand what you mean through of having extra revenue.

Possibly they don't use verbal dispatch anymore. I guess its cellular or some sorta on board computer to accept missions.

Maryland has a number of public safety helos at its disposal. When a severe thunderstorm toppled a tree onto a garage full of birthday party participants taking shelter, there were 4 state police helicopters dispatched to the incident.

The initial dispatches for state police (and USPP) helos in Maryland is almost always done by landline. The helos do ask for sitreps enroute from the on scene commander and landing zone personnel - usually a fire truck. These convos typically happen on a local radio system tg.

Probably not cellular. Probably this or a similar service.

Maybe for the private air ambulances, but in Maryland, dispatching, flight following, and all comms for public service medevac helos are handled by a state police duty officer and SYSCOM / EMRC communicators.

Did you try any of the frequencies here: Maryland - Medevac Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

I have never taken the time to listen to any of those frequencies, the closest license for Stat is Hanover, PA as they have a helo at the York Airport, I haven't seen a Stat Helicopter in the Baltimore Metro Area in ages

I routinely hear traffic from Air Methods Life Net 81 (Hagerstown) and occasionally STATCom Medevac 10 (Martin State). Martin State is quite a ways further from me.

I never hear anything from the 700mhz M/A channels.

I see / hear blue and yellow helicopters approaching AAMC for what I assume are inter hospital transfers, but I’m almost certain these evolutions are landline encounters.
