I need help programing the P25 system for West Point, NY into my PRO-106. I have no clue what to do, and the manual is of no use in this particular area. I am able to put the frequencies in and setup the wild card talk group, but I have no clue what the setting should be for the other stuff related to the system. I know, from NF2G, that the base is 136, the offset is 0 and the step is 12.5, now as far as how to get these into the scanner I have no clue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If TSYS is set to P25 auto and you have the control frequencies programmed and the Wildcard, run the scanner. It'll automatically set the tables.

You can check the tables after a short run if you want by
PGM
EDIT
CURR
Down to cursor in TSYS
SEL
FUNC Down
Right to Custom for T Tables
SEL
SEL on Table 01:
Then Down through the Lo. Hi, Offset, Base and Step. Should see menu end.

Exit out and select No to discard your peeking which returns T Tables back to Default P25 Auto.

I would not rely on any automatic features for the West Point system. They use M/A-Com's implementation of P25 and it is not completely compliant with the standard. Uniden scanners have trouble tracking this particular system. I think the PRO-106 is a GRE, so it should work.

The base/step/offset data go into what are called "trunking tables." I have never programmed a non-standard system by hand, so I have no idea what that looks like on the scanner's screen. It is relatively easy to set up using the appropriate software.

Dave,

I know that the Uniden BCD396T, so long as it has the latest firmware updates, also trunktracks the USMA system just fine.

I tried fmon's instructions with a new PRO-197 - worked.

Thanks for the info. I'll be sure to edit the note on my website when I do the next update.

Same message as SCANdal Dave. I'm using a Uniden 396 and trunk it just fine. I do have to say the audio sounds better on my NEW GRE-500 though.

I'd also like to mention there are several programs available for computer based programming of your scanner rather than by hand. I use PSREdit. The license cost I think $30. Uniden offers basic software for free on their website for certain scanners as well. A wise investment.

If I had to program another scanner by hand again I think I'd cut it off.

I got it to work, with this being a new type of scanner programming, I merely didn't set the wildcard talkgroup to a scanlist. Once I did that it functioned properly. As for the software I am still demoing them and deciding which one I want to get.
