I programmed my new PRO-106 with Win500. Since doing that last night the scanner will from time to time just power off and reboot itself. Happens everytime after I lock the backlight to stay on. Anyone have an idea why?

hi, are you operating the scanner on battery power, or the wall-wart... is it possible your battery is so low that it shuts itself down. I use a wall-wart, and have never experienced that type of problem.

Sounds like batteries are low. What type of batteries are you using, and have you programmed your scanner for the proper battery type?

Here's the wrinkle. It happens while I have it plugged in. I've been running it on rechargeable batteries for more than 2 hours with no problem. Interesting?

What are you using for an AC adapter, 9VDC (not 12VDC) correct, 500MA or better?

RS #273-1768 9-Volt AC adapter, 800mA (500mA needed)
-AC ADAPTER FROM RADIOSHACK
-9V 800mA even though a minimum of 500 mA is required
-For PRO-106 scanner

if the scanner is not at fault, then this correct wall-wart might clear up your problem. If the wall-wart is rated below the 500mA rating, you could see some undesireable operation. The minimum the 106 demands is the 500mA or greater power supply. RadioShack offers the 800mA model wall-wart and I would go with thier power ratings recommendation. If using 300mA or lower, you could be damaging your scanner. I don't know exactly which rated power supply you have, but it does sound like a power issue to me.
