Pro-106 died, good replacement?

Sorry I didn't see your post yesterday. But just wanted to let you know (in case the 996XT doesn't work out) that ScannerMaster claims to have new both the PRO-106 and PRO-197 in stock. They're a little bit expensive, and I don't know where they're getting them from since they aren't being made anymore, but just wanted to share with you.

I have the 996xt and the 106. All I can say is I wish I never got the 106. It cannot decode p-25 simulcast at all. The 996xt works like a charm, is built much better, and has a ton of better features. The 106 is merely a toy compared to uniden.

I got my BCD996XT today, and let me say, it is like night and day to the pro-106. I agree, the 996 has a lot of advanced features that the 106 didn't. Don't get me wrong, the 106 is a great scanner, but the 996 is a lot better. I love the rec-out port on the back, making it so much easier to run a feed, and the fire tone detection is another great feature.
