Pro 106 Help

ok so im trying to find info on this radio with no luck

since it is made my GRE is it the same as the PSR 500

AKA close call DSP and CPU update

also the 106 is marketed as a 39,000 channel does anyone know how its set up banks or is it like the PSR 500

does anyone know how many channels are in a PSR 500

The RS 20-106 is identical to the GRE500 except firmware, so all you read about the latter pertains to the 106, programming, ScanLists, etc....I have the GRE500, my daughter lives in So.Elgin , i took the scanner there last week and it worked GREAT on Tower 115-N. Cook Co, T108-Lake Co on digital on the Starcom 700/800 system....

As mentioned, the Pro-106 is basically identical to the PSR-500. There are about 1850 "objects" in active memory, with 21 V-Scanner folders...

I have been running a 500 and 106 side by side for over two weeks now on at least 10 diffrent systems. There is absolutely no performance or function difference in them. If anything the 106 volume is a tiny bit better.

If you are asking if the updates apply to both radios, no. The PSR 500 can be cloned to a 106, but the 106 cannot use the GRE updates. Both function the same. Cosmetically, they are different. There are no banks. It uses object oriented user interface. It has the same amount of objects (memory) as the 500. But, if you had read the wiki on both radios, you would have known this. Of course I will be corrected by DonS, or someone else more proficient with the 106 and 500.
