Wanted to see if anyone else has this problem.
I'm using WIN500.
When I upload a change to the 106, it goes into "Init" mode. (hit any key to continue)
All previous programming is gone. I have to restart the scanner and the software, then I can upload my P500 file.
This doesn't happen EVERY time, but about every 3rd or 4th time.

The changes I make are minor, maybe a new frequency, or changing a priority or locking out a channel.
I make the change in the program, upload it to the scanner, and POOF!, it's wiped out.

Thanks,

Mike

I have uploaded to my PSR500 hundreds of times, and YES, after every 4 or 5 uploads it will FAIL and you have to hit a key and retry. Hitting a key reboots the scanner but I have never had to restart the software. I'm guessing that it is memory issue, but really don't know. As long as its recoverable, I'm satisfied.

I've seen this exact same thing happen with my 106. Very random...sometimes I can go 6 or more uploads without it happening...other times it will only occur once every 2 or 3 uploads.

I can get past it also...but it's not normal. My Pro-96 never did it.
It's especially frustrating when I'm doing it remotely, and am not home to reboot the scanner.
I'd be interested to hear if there is a fix for this.

I had this problem with my PSR600, someone in that forum recommended putting the scanner into program mode first, just push pgm, then uploading.
It's been working great since then.

I had a incident yesterday while building a file. Win500 locked up. Every other program that was open was fine. Still dont know why it did it, but as I enter freq's to the scanner I always keep the info Im working with and just give it a different ver #. I downloaded from the scanner after restarting Win500 and finished adding the programing. First incident Ive had using both Win96 and Win500.

Pressing PGM before uploading seems to work OK.
My tests are not 100% conclusive as I have only done 3 uploads since receiving the advise that smason gave us.
I'll try a few more tomorrow and report back.

Not to jinx myself, but I have been Win500 blasting my PRO-197 several times a day for several days now and I have not had any problem (knock wood...salt over shoulder...etc.). And these files are huge! I wonder if its more of an operating system issue. What OS are you all using? Vista??? Win XP Pro here and no issues yet. Even Monitor / Control works good.

XP pro here, it used to happen about every 4th upload. Hasn't happened since I started hitting pgm first.

I know I have uploaded several times after various channel treaks on the XP computer, and it never did what you discribed here. I have the Radio Shack USB Programming Cable and driver version 2.04 which Windows automatically loaded when I attached it a week or so ago.

Different situation, but I noticed that when I uploaded the same data file to my PRO-106 via the Windows XP computer that it took less than 10 seconds, but on my Vista computer it took more than 15 seconds.

So, I went to the USB chipset manufactures site for my Radio Shack USB Programming Cable, and downloaded the latest non-WHQL certified driver and installed it manually on my Vista computer. Since then, Vista is just as fast as XP now doing and upload to my PRO-106.

In my case it was a driver issue. So, maybe you have a simular problem with the serial port driver causing your issue too.

Same here. I've done a ton of uploads on my desktop using WinXP as well as with my laptop (running Win2K) and I've never seen this problem. Very odd!
