Would the pro 106 have any issues trunking, decoding etc.. on Nebraska's new statewide radio system?

Is anyone using the 106 on Neb.'s system anywhere?

I didn't know if it would trunk the system in the 155.00 band? I am thinking about getting one, but I would want to monitor the new state system, if it didn't do that then I probably wouldn't get it. Any responses are appreciated.

I would imagine Pro 106 should have no problems with monitoring N-WIN. All you need is to program the control channel, and have the proper settings enabled in the Pro 106.

I do not have a Pro 106, I currently have a Uniden BC296D, which can receive N-WIN, but you need a band plan for it to trunk properly.

Pro-106 will work on the N-WIN system and you should not need a bank plan. Program they system as a P25 and enter the control channels.

IMHO i would go with Uniden over a RS any day. I have had 4 different RS scanners and now i have a Uniden 996XT with the ARC XT PRO program witch makes it super easy to program.

If your looking for a place to buy and trust i got mine from scannermasters.com

Besides being able to program, what are some other reasons? I can program my RS Pro-106 easy

In less then 3 minutes I programmed a Pro-197 with the N-WIN system and live 2000 miles from Nebraska.

yeah programming is always fast if you have the software. I'm just saying the 996xt has more and I mean a lot more to offer

Until you go to monitor a P25 simulcast system and the 106/197 is receiving traffic while the Uniden isn't decoding anything.

Which radio are you using to receive Douglas Co. from Lincoln? How is the signal strength?

I would rather have the Uniden over the Radio Shack, but Uniden cost quite a bit more. I appreciate any info of support on both radios.

The Uniden is better on simulcast systems, at least with Douglas county's. The only bad spots I have with my 996xt is either a low signal or a cell tower, can't wait for them to reband the tower sites. The rat shack scanner audio flutters so much it unbearable.
The N-WIN system is not a simulcast system.

I was just kidding, I've tested both out extensively on the large simulcast P25 systems here in the Phoenix metro area. I've compared handhelds with another member on here, he has a 396XT and I have a 106 and both performed pretty much equally. I've programmed the news stations scanner around the area and they were using 996XT mobiles and I have a 197, connected to the 800 yagi I use to receive Phoenix PD on my 197 the Uniden was not performing well at all until I adjusted the antenna a little bit and then the Uniden was performing well and the RS was not. I also programmed their 396XT and drove around the valley with the 106 and 396XT on, both performed equally.

I would think that just about any digital capable scanner would perform great on the N-WIN system, not sure about it not having some simulcast sites but regardless hopefully VHF will be a little bit less cluttered.

****News Flash****I just bought a Pro 106 during the Black Friday sale over RadioShack.com early this morning.

296 is for sale, but no takers.....

For starters, what is the brand and model of your scanner and your location, so we can get you pointed in the right direction. :)

You can only hear North Platte traffic off the Lincoln tower if a radio using the Lincoln tower has the North Platte talkgroup selected or if a user has that talkgroup in their scan list.
