pro-106 only hear dispatch nothing else

new to this, only hear police and fire dispatch, can we hear other things like cbs, or big shops like gm, or schools buses, or dnr, plains, how is this possible. I have the freguency for a shop near by its 461.56250c but I dont no what to do to hear it. thanks guys.

You will only hear transmitters that are within range. Some systems use a repeater which re-broadcasts transmissions and you will hear both sides of a conversation.(All trunked systems and duplex systems)
If it is a simplex system you will only hear the base (dispatch) and only mobile units if closeby.
