I couldn't resist purchasing the Pro-106 for the sale price. Can I use FreeSCAN to program the Pro-106 or is other software needed?

That is a heck of a deal - I am considering grabbing one tonight or tomorrow.

From the FreeScan web site FAQ's:

Q: What scanners are supported?
A: SC230, BC246T, 330, 396T&XT, 346XT, 996T & XT & 15T & X, 3500XLT.

Looks like Win500 may be a better choice; Don's software is the best, as is his customer service.

You may want to start out here Object Oriented Scanner Software - The RadioReference Wiki and try the various programs. Each includes a free 30 day trial so you can fully evaluate them to see which one works best for you. They're all very good so the main difference would be how close of a fit they are to how their interface works with how you like to do thing.

All of the popular software for the Pro-106/ GRE-500 is available for a free 30 day test drive.

I personally use WIN500- for my money it can't be beat!
