I accidently broke the volume knob on my Pro-106 that turns the scanner on and I have went to 3 radio shacks to try to get them to look up in their parts system so that I can get a new volume knob and try to install it and no one has a damn clue what I am talking about.

How can I go about fixing this scanner?

The bottom part of the knob is fine its just the volume knob/switch that turns the unit on that is broke.

Help is appreciated.

I don't know what the status is with GRE, but they might still have contacts in CA.

I'd rather buy the knob and replace it myself then send it off for $75 damn dollars LOL

I will call GRE and see what I can do.

Since Whistler took over manufacturing of the Pro106/GRE500 scanner, the new equivalent model is the Pro 651. Maybe RS can check their parts list for the Pro 651 and get you the volume knob for that model. It should be identical to the Pro106 in fit and function. The color might be a little different.

If that doesn't work, you might contact Whistler to ask them for the equivalent part from their WS1040 model.

Hope this helps,
