I know I probably shouldnt put two questions in one post, but i think they are fairly simple. I programmed the state skywarn freqs for CT in my Pro-106 and have set them to Priority enabled, they are also members of the scanlist 22 (skywarn). When I am scanning scan list 1 and enable Priority (PRI) it does not appear to check the skywarn freqs...does scanlist 22 need to be enabled?

Second question. SAME weather. I live in Fairfield county CT. I programmed 009001 as the FIPS code for my area. At night I set the scanner next to my bed, select WX choose stby (which then changes to STBY) do the above steps look correct? Probably no signals from NOAA have been sent and i will continue to do this until it works. I check the weather site daily to see if i missed a signal. For my own knowledge when a weather warning is issued, do they send the signal more than once? Or just the one time when the warning is issued?

Thank you,

Happy Scanning.

yes, I believe the scanlist you want scanned has to be set to scan.

Ive progamed SAme in to my 106 aswell, but yet to have any kind of weather emergency issues sense ive owned it.

and I would guess they would keep sending the signal out untill the weather emergency is no longer issued

ps, where can yuo check to see if you missed a signal?

as for the stby, cant help you , as i dont really know

National Weather runs a test every Wed morning at 11:30 your time. Set to STBY a little earlier.

At least in my area the local NWS weather radio only sends the alert signal with the initial issuance of the watch/warning. There is a duration sent along with the alert that my tabletop weather radio decodes to show how long the watch/warning is good for. I haven't yet received an alert on my '197 to see if this time information is also displayed.

Like fmon said, the NWS will perform a weekly test that your '106 should react to so you can confirm your settings.

Same here, but I may not have to wait til then, we got a nor easter getting ready to move in. They are calling for 15 plus inches of white joy...I found the skywarn alert system by accident last year-as a wind driven thunderstorm set off my alert. I didnt even know it was there. Once I read about it, I put my local fire dept's in there so it scans and ready to recieve signal.
