I made a simple modification on my Pro-106 that makes a huge difference! I bought a Motorola XTS series belt clip and tried it out on my Pro 106, and it worked! It doesn't fit in all the way, and doesn't snap in, but seems to work fine! I hated the stock belt clip because I have had so many RS belt clips break on me in the past, but I think this one will hold up a little longer. Hope someone else finds this useful too!

Neat idea. I'm looking at one now and it looks like a guy could make a notch in that tab part way down and it would lock up correctly.

Great idea. You might try turning on your cameras flash, can't see much in the pics. I did break one of these clips off my XTS, it was quite a hit that broke it. Radio survived thankfully.

Be careful! You might prefer the belt clip to break then the alternative. One RR member loaned his PRO-106 to a friend and the guy busted the back of the radio case out from belt clip strain, and that was using the stock clip.

Anyone wanting a belt clip like the one used, it's Motorola part number NTN8266B. It's a good fit, but it doesn't lock into place. A small screw could be mounted on the rear of the case right above the top of the clip to keep it from sliding out. Or you could use CA glue or epoxy to keep it in place as long as you never intend to remove it. ;)

I use a thin metal clip from an old Icom ht. I had to elongate the holes about 1/32inch each to make it work but it's much sturdier than the plastic ones. It also has a hole for a wrist strap which I think is a plus.

We need to find someone who could make these for a reasonable price. I think they could sell one to about everyone who takes their scanners out of house.

Edit: I had offered some clips here but they ended up not fitting like I thought they would.

Sorry.

would this work with a Pro-97? the stock clip is crappy too.

Yes, I believe the PRO-97 and the GRE PSR-500 share the same style of belt clip, so if it fits one, it should fit the other.

MANCOW: I sent you a PM.
