When programing Digital & Conventional programs in the RS PRO 106, why is it that you do not see any Conventional programed departments in the display window that you program, it's only digital programed departments, why is this ?

"Digital" and "Conventional" aren't mutually exclusive. Maybe you're thinking of "Analog," as in not-digital? Not trying to be a smart alec, just helpful if possible.

The 106/197 will display "DG" ahead of the TG frequency for digital trunked groups, for analog groups it displays "VC." If it is a conventional i.e. not-trunked channel, it will display "CONV" in the upper right. Trunked groups, analog or digital, display "TSYS" in the bottom center. Mine displays "NFM" for all of the conventional stuff as I don't have any P25 p.1 digital conventional frequencies hereabouts to monitor.

You might be confusing what you are seeing on the display of the scanner. The Pro-106 does not have department specific programming like the newer Uniden models do. When you are viewing something on trunked radio system, it will flash between the name of the talkgroup and then name of the trunked system that it is programmed under. If the trunked system happens to be called the name of the department, then it might look like it's showing a department. The only real way of showing a department on the Pro-106 is to pretty much name the object appropriately to help you understand who it is.

When I program my pro106 I program the TGID # & the TAG ID for digital, & also program the TAG ID
for my analog so I know who that department is. I do that for all programed departments.

I just content myself with whatever the RRDB puts in for alpha tags, TGIDs, etc. So far it's been correct on everything I've imported, and everything I wanted to input was in the DB. I made the hop from direct-entry 1980s conventional-analog gear last year...been a heck of a learning curve! Glad I could help a tiny bit, I got some serious paying back to do for folks here who helped me figure it all out.
