thinking of purchasing the pro-106 will this scanner work for the p25 trunked system in york pa to recieve fire and police if so what is the easiest way to program it ??

It works great on the York system. Took mine to Harrisburg last Saturday picked it up good.. Download Win500, software makes programming easy.

Yes the Pro 106 will get York, PA with the exception of any encrypted channels, but I took a quick look and didn't see any.
The best way to program the 106 is with a programming cable available at RS, a premium subscription to RR and a software program.
There are 3 programs available, all offering a free 30 day trial for you to decide which works best for you. The are Arc 500 http://www.butel.com Win 500 http://www.starrsoft.com PSREdit 500 http://www.PSRedit.com. There is also a forum that discusses the various programs which is located at

Everyone will have an opinion on which software program to use, but you should try them all out and figure out which works best for you.

if yoy want i will program for you i am in wrightsville and it does work great on york system
You can program a P25 system in your 106 as a wildcard in about 1 minute! It takes longer than that just to use the software.

sorry but i get hung up on the 2nd or 3rd step asking me to delete my memory files. worried that i already blew out some stuff i need ! the pro 106 book is worse than a nuclear theory book ! can you walk me through it ? i found my p25 for york co. Va. in the book

right .but why do i want to delete files right off the bat to bring in something already stored in the scanner? I performed that function 2-3 times and still cant find them now to scan. anyway, ive got the pro 106 (emphasis on "must be a pro" to use!) with some deleted files,and v scanner data loaded in somewhere , my dandy new RR subscription, a downloaded winn500 file somewhere in my laptop(with apparent multiple hoops to jump through to use) and will very soon have a shiny new usb cable ( probably not the same kind as the dozen or so i already own) USB to 1/8 in.? .and last of all a desire to bring all these items together so my scanner will actually scan my metro area ( newport news,hampton,and especially Va. state police,and york co. Va. zip 23692 ) I would like a simplified method ,step by step how to get there from here ! thanks , gary <><
