Tonight I had attempted to upgrade the firmware on my Pro-107. This time I held Menu and plugged in the USB cable, not thinking to just do it via the iScan program which I have. Dumb dumb dumb.

Now it's stuck on the screen that displays the follows:

uP BootVer: RF1.1
uP App Ver: NONE
CPU SW Upgrade
Wait for PC/IF

After the wait, it simply errors out on the bottom line. What's worse...the program won't respond. I have plugged it from one USB port to the next. It's like it's not even there.

Any idea how I can reset from the device itself?

I've read other threads and they all seem to point to what I've already done. If there's a button combo I can use to just make the thing slip back into resetting, all my stuff is backed up. I'm not sure why my computer isn't communicating with that or the PRS-800 that a friend needs programmed for him.

Did you try the instructions on page 92 of the manual?

1. That looks like a PRO-197 manual, and wouldn't apply to the O.P.'s PRO-107.
2. Even on a PRO-197, you can't get to those steps if it's showing "uP App Ver: NONE"

To the O.P....

Even with the PRO-107 in that state, you should be able to do the CPU upgrade from the iScan PC software.
1. Disconnect USB cable from scanner
2. If scanner is still "on", remove the batteries
3. Attach USB cable to PC
4. Attach USB cable to scanner (it should now show "uP App Ver: NONE" as above)
5. Run iScan PC software and try the CPU Upgrade from the menu

Just tried that and I get the same error message that it isn't picking up the scanner on any ports. I have it plugged in and it's getting power straight from the USB port.

Not to be picky, but you've told him to remove the batteries, but when is he supposed to put them back in? :)

Update...left the thing plugged into the computer while I went to brush my teeth. The computer finally recognized it and started rocking and rolling on getting the firmware upgrade started. Not sure why it was taking it's sweet time but thanks for all your help guys, I really do appreciate it.

After he's done updating the firmware, and then only if he wants to run from batteries.
